William's County Anglers Newsletter |
June 2009 |
By Snag Weber |
Hello anglers and welcome to the 2009 fishing season. Hope everyone had a safe winter
and a great Holiday Season. As you guessed it, I am still the only source
of entertainment and fishing news that we have. Pretty sad isn't it? Well being
the cess pool of knowledge that I am lets get on with the news. The 2009 bass season started off great this year. The weather hasn't been to bad over all, at least not like it was last year. Before I start with the run down of the first 2 tournaments I want to welcome the new teams that joined this year. I guess the WCA Stimulus package got some positive attention. If anyone actually reads these newsletters you're gonna see some new names on the lists. Look for these people on the water and welcome them to the club. Ok, on with the important stuff. Hamilton was the first stop on the 09 tournament trail, The first place multi million dollar purse goes to none other than our BMOC, The honorable Doug Mock and Ryan Hake. They tipped the scales and so did their limit of fish with a weight of 8 lbs. 33 oz, Jimmy Masters and Chad Pollard picked up the second place spot with a limit of fish weighing 7.82, the third place team of Richard and Justin Ringler brought 3 fish to the scales weighing 6.35 to wrap up the top 3 spots. Brett Mealer and Thomas Fields made their presence known with their big bass of the day weighing 3.03 lbs. Way to go guys. The weather wasn't the greatest out their but these die hards showed us that there are fish to be caught if you can brave the elements. Next on the WCA party bus stop was Waldron Lake. The weather was B E A U tiful out there. Waldron Lake has some nice fish and we got to see alot of them at the ramp for the weigh in. Steve W and John Dance woke up at the ramp and found a bag with 5 nice fish in it so they took them to the scales and low and behold the fell right into first place with a weight of 13.35 and a 5.17 pig that took big bass ( yes, I actually caught it) more of a surprise to me than it was the fish. Second place was taken by Doug Mock and Ryan Hake (seems to be a pattern starting here with these 2) they had 5 fish totaling 12.69. Third place was Jimmy Masters and Chad Pollard they had 5 fish weighing 12.66. As usual, there was alot of nice fish caught that day and I think everyone had a good time. The next stop for the bass tour is going to be Saturday, June 6 th on Union Lake from 6 am to 2 pm. Lets hope we don't get 5 inches of rain out there like we did last year. See you all there. The pan fisherpeople started their season this year on Crooked Lake on May 9 th. I hope they are having a good year again this year since they are the ones that feed us soooooo well for the banquet. The first place honors goes to Jay Smith with 10 fish weighing 4.26 lbs. Nice bag. Second place went to Eric Powell with 10 fish at 3.54 and big fish at .77 lbs. That will make a nice plate this winter. Third place went to Larry Jessie with 10 fish tipping the scale at 3.27. Nice job guys. Pictures are on the website if anyone wants to see some of the main courses for our banquet. Keep fishing hard guys. I think they've had a second tournament but I don't have the results for that one. Their next one is going to be June 13 on Lake of the Woods. How do you catch fish in a lake of wood? Well, if anyone can figure it out it's these guys and gals. Well folks, I think that about wraps it up for now so if you're now snoring yet you can go back to your regularly scheduled program and read something educational now. I'll be hot on the trail of the next hot story on the WCA fishing news. Everybody stay safe out there. Our goal is to have fun and we all come home. See ya next time. Later all, Snag |
